Martin Read

Founder & Director

Martin Read is the founder of Bushido Films. An observational filmmaker and investigative journalist based in Cardiff, he has directed hour-long documentaries for Channel 4 and BBC One, and reported for Channel 4 News. His films include In Too Deep: Phone Snatching Exposed — Bushido's first Channel 4 commission and a Broadcast Digital Award winner with 1.6M+ views — the Sheffield DocFest world premieres Britain's Forgotten Prisoners and Bike Life Extreme, and the BAFTA Cymru-nominated The Insomniacs.

Alan Hayling

Alan Hayling is one of British documentary's most experienced executives — former Head of Documentaries at the BBC and commissioning editor for documentaries at Channel 4, where he oversaw Michael Moore's The Awful Truth and the early stages of Bowling for Columbine. After founding Renegade Pictures (later acquired by Warner Bros.), he now runs Renegade Stories, and executive produces and guides Bushido Films' commissions including Britain's Forgotten Prisoners, The Millionairess and Me and In Too Deep: Phone Snatching Exposed.

Shay Oluyinka

Shay Oluyinka is a producer at Bushido Films. An unscripted TV and digital producer and YouTube strategist, he develops, casts and produces factual films and digital formats with a focus on strong characters, access-driven storytelling and fresh ways to tell compelling stories for contemporary audiences. He produced In Too Deep: Phone Snatching Exposed for Channel 4 — a Broadcast Digital Award winner and one of 4Digital's highest-performing documentaries.
